A city on enormous pillars shelters its inhabitants from the ruined world below. When children begin to disappear, an investigator from the Polit secret service starts questioning truths he has accepted all his life. Kristýna Sněgoňová opens a dark story of power, secrecy, and survival.
The inhabitants no longer remember when their ancestors built this refuge above the world's ruins. The official version of reality leaves ordinary people no room to imagine life beyond the city and sets limits on permitted knowledge. Searching for the missing children leads a capable investigator toward old secrets. The post-apocalyptic setting combines detective suspense with the question of whose interests are served by society's certainties.
