What is Po cestách kamenitých about?

The conversations follow Luboš Kropáček from his studies of Arabic, English, and Africa through travel in Africa to academic work and translation. A formative experience was the 1968 student expedition to Albert Schweitzer’s hospital in Lambaréné, which strengthened his lifelong interest in Africa. He worked at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts until 1974, then had to leave academia and worked, among other roles, as an Arabic translator and interpreter. He returned to the faculty after 1989 and was later appointed professor. Another major thread concerns Islam, the history and culture of Muslim societies, Islamic spirituality, and fundamentalism. A third explores his Christian faith as a significant part of his life and worldview. Together, these strands portray a scholar, a person of faith, and a specialist in the Islamic world with a longstanding commitment to interfaith understanding.
