Zelená jako smaragd
11,96 €
Gwendolyn must find her way through the past just as her confidence in her own relationship begins to falter. Zelená jako smaragd combines romantic hurt with the continuing threat of Count Saint Germain and challenges that cannot be solved simply by traveling to the right year. The third Drahokamy novel builds on earlier events and assumes familiarity with their foundations. Kerstin Gier blends suspense with humor and the social backdrop of earlier eras. Trust becomes a question both in Gwendolyn’s relationship with Gideon and in the information she receives from those around her.
For Gwendolyn, time travel is no escape from everyday problems. Alongside emotional uncertainty come situations that require her to understand other people’s behavior, hidden intentions, and the rules of another era. Minuets, wigs, and swords give these journeys a tangible setting, but do nothing to remove the danger of being pursued.
Gideon remains part of the adventure and a source of unresolved questions. That makes it difficult for Gwendolyn to separate what she hopes for from what she can trust. Xemerius’s humor brings a different tone to tense situations without diminishing their seriousness.
The book continues an already developed story of family and romance. It is best read after the earlier volumes; this profile stays with the initial relationships and does not reveal the explanation behind the time-travel mysteries or the outcome of the conflict. A central process is connecting events that initially seem to contradict one another.
